Minutes - June 13, 2019
Highland Business and Neighborhood Association monthly meeting agenda 06/13/19 Location: Manzano del Sol Retirement Community.
Meeting called to order at 6:35pm
1. Introductions and Roll Call
Olivia Jaramillo, Barb Villa, Mike Swanson, Clark Brown, Janine Kennedy, Ron Garcia-Herrera, Rob Cronin, Elizabeth Vencill
2. April Meeting Minutes - Clark made motion to accept, second – Rob, Vote passed.
3. April Treasury Report – Clark made motion to accept, second – Barb, Vote passed.
An update: the NM film industry will no longer automatically send monies to neighborhood associations. Specific requests will be required to receive monies if filming is performed in your neighborhood.
4. Agenda Items:
A. Valerie James’ fencing issue. Update - Barb
Barb sent letter to Code Enforcement Department regarding HBANA concerns. Still waiting for decision. This will be discussed in July Meeting
B. HBANA search for active secretary. Continues. Clark advised he would be stepping down as VP at the close of this term. This will be discussed in July Meeting
C. David Keleher, Construction Project Update – Barb attended the zoning hearing and the variance for his project was approved.
D. National Night Out – Olivia provided a breakdown of proposed and duties to have the NNO on Tuesday August 6, 2019. The following is a list of duties and those volunteering to complete.
Flyers (Janine and Olivia), Yard Signs (Clark and Olivia), Kona Ice (Olivia), Tickets (Pat Pabish), Park Permit (Olivia), ABQ SE area command PIO Laura Keuhn (Rob), Raffle Prizes Tickets (Elizabeth and Barb), Souvenirs-Bubbles (Olivia), Entertainment (Janine), Vendor Tables – New Gym called Stretch from San Mateo (Janine), Meyers for tables from NDI (Olivia), Social Media Facebook/Webpage (Omar and Rob), Twitter (Mike), ONC Newsletter (Ron), Setup/cleanup (everybody). Tentative Budget ($580-705) with a passed vote of a ceiling cap ($800).
Related to NNO, it was passed by vote that Ron Garcia-Herrera from Adams St. would have a table for his initative “Noise Free Burque”. This will be discussed in July Meeting
E. Zoning Information Update – In an educational opportunity, Janine reported the findings of her recent visits to four Integrated Development Organization meetings. She provided maps and descriptions of the zones in the HBANA neighborhood and other information related to the IDO.
F. Membership Campaign – Janine reported her views on canvasing and surveying the HBANA neighborhood. She also requested further clarification of terms identified in the bylaws. Request moving annual meeting to Jan/Feb rather than having on the heels of NNO. This will be discussed in July Meeting
5. Community Session - Round Table
1. Arts in the Park – Ron will research this for a future project. This will be discussed in July Meeting
2. LED Lights installed on Lomas San Mateo West
3. Possible change of HBANA name to something more friendly.
4. Reasons for being in the organization. Neighborhood watch, Block Captains.
