Highland High School, 75 years of history
Construction
Built in 1949, Highland High School was originally planned to be built in the shape of an “H”. However, only the east wing of the main building and the gym were built when it opened.
Expansion
The school added the East and West wings in the 1950s, the history building, theater, and music complex in the 1960s, and a third gym, vocational building, and swimming pool in the 1970s.
Filming location
Highland High School has been featured in several movies and TV shows, including Spy School, Carriers, The Space Between Us, and Logan.
Historic architecture
Highland High School is popular with movie producers because of its historic architecture and the welcoming tax credits offered by the state of New Mexico.
